NERDFIGHTERS! I NEED YOU!
I’m writing my third year Uni dissertation about the social purpose and online nature of Nerdfighteria, and I’d love it if you could watch this, comment or share, or all three. The more responses, the more worthwhile and fun this is for me.
(I mean, the more relevant and useful the research is, yeah, hmm)
THANKS. DFTBA.
IT’S UP YOU GUYS. 1000 VIDEOS.
Hank, John…. Thanks for everything. You never forgot to be awesome.

I’m glad Hank and John aren’t backing off talking about politics this year…
…despite having what is probably a much larger and more diversified fan-base than they had four years ago.
Sometimes I see posts of people complaining that seeing nerdfighters for Obama stuff makes them uncomfortable, or not welcome, or something. I’m not sure what those people want.
Hank and John are both intelligent, politically-aware people who obviously care about the future of their country, so for them to reblog or make arguments to the effect of appearing to endorse one candidate over another makes sense to me. They always engage issues in a calm and respectful manner. They never make ad hominem attacks on a person’s character or make people feel bad or stupid for holding alternative beliefs.
Nerdfighteria is crazy sensitive to people’s concerns with what goes on in it, but that doesn’t mean the Green brothers have to be neutral on issues that divide people. We shouldn’t be looking to Hank and John as the embodiment or ambassadors of the whole of Nerdfighteria, so that when they say something that stands opposed to our own personalities, preferences or ideologies our whole worldview is shattered.
Look to your own identity as separate from Nerdfighteria and notice how it is both similar and different to those of its ‘figureheads’ or founders or whatever you want to call them. Know that it is the fact that one can hold wildly different political, religious, moral, or whatever, beliefs and still be accepted and embraced in this brilliant, inclusive community.
And if you have a problem with somebody whom you obviously admire having and advocating political opinions that you disagree with, perhaps the problem lies somewhere with you.

How British tabloids see Nerdfighteria
“BRITAIN’S Got Talent hot favourite Jonathan Antoine has a secret life as a member of a bizarre internet cult.
The shy opera singer has joined a wacky group called The Nerd Fighters.
Members, often intellectual loners, claim they are “not made of flesh and bone’’ and watch Harry Potter and Star Trek movies all the time.
Jonathan, 17, who is through to Saturday’s final with pal Charlotte Jaconelli, 16, admitted yesterday: “I am a Nerd Fighter. Loud and proud.””

I need a new gathering soon ;)
